Included in the infographic are the results we received from the polling push committee.We plan to share this infographic Tuesday night in the main Lynbrook Facebook group for students to see the results. The design for everything isn't final yet, so be sure to let us know what aspects of the infographic needs attention.

ReplyDeleteI do have a couple comments though! I think it's a cool idea to add some fun facts (candy bags and Victor's birthday) to the infographic, but I think they are a bit awkwardly placed. The title of the infographic is ASB Polling Results, so it seems that the facts just don't belong here.
There is also quite a bit of empty space at the bottom, so maybe you could consider making all the graphics bigger or spreading them out differently to fill up the space! MAYBE you could make a separate section at the bottom for some ASB fun facts!

I think some things to be cautious about is that while we want to make sure that the information is accurate, we want to make sure that the information does not represent ASB badly. Many of the polling results above show a lack of participation or interest in ASB events — not sure if that is the face we want to put out towards the student body.
ReplyDeletePerhaps what might be more eye catching/encourage involvement is reaching out to past events and checking how many students attended (ex: 343 students attend the homecoming dance). In addition, there infographic would have more of a focus on past events, rather than hypothetical, possible events.
I like the color scheme and think most of the placement looks pretty good, but agree with Ahana's comment above! For the fun facts (candy/birthday), I think if the background/speech bubble was similar to the color scheme it might fit in a bit better.
Also since you're promoting the asb snapchat, I think it's worth to promote the instagram as well :)

ReplyDeleteI think overall you guys did a great job on the infographic here is some of the feedback that came to mind when I saw it:
1. for the bar graph, I think that they could be rectangles that are filled in
with a pattern in a neutral color (such as white), just because the colors are
on top on a similar color so it could be kind of hard to differentiate what is
what
2.Like Ahana, I too think that the fun facts area is awkwardly spaced, in my
opinion it would be nice to add a header, such as "fun facts" just so people
know what they are looking at
3.The different categories that are represented on the graph are also a little
awkwardly divided
4.The information on the infographic is not centered (idk if this was
something you were going for)
5.The colors on the pie chart are a little distracting because of how saturated
they are in retrospect to everything else. Also for the piece chart, if you
could include numbers of each respective category that would be nice
6. Personally, I like it when the text is all the same color
7. On a similar not to the saturation, the snapchat code is really bright
compared to its surroundings. Not only is the color kind of distracting, the
point of the infographic is to show the information. If you look at the
proportion of the snapchat graphic (phone included) to that of the other
information on the infographic, it may seem like you are promoting the
snapchat rather than the information gathered from the polling push.
8.Some fonts sizes are a little small so they are kind of hard to read.

ReplyDeletei like the little graphics that fit each topic, however i think each topic/graphic/words are a bit blocky. like you could draw squares around them so they dont really fit that well next to each other. idk if that made sense lol.... like infographics are supposed to flow, like one fact is connected to the next one and stuff. but this infographic lacks a flow to it. it just kind of looks like facts were put on the infographic just for information but not for flow.
also i think the pie chart colors dont fit the other colors. also the snapchat square isnt centered onto the phone. or like text in general is shifted to the right. but it looks good!
as for the topic of the infographic, i think the facts are a little out of place because this is mainly about student input. also maybe you can partner up with other committees and put some other facts/inputs on there. like maybe things like the wantoo, or sadies info? It seems a bit empty in terms of input. or like most of these facts dont blend together/aren't related to each other
also, a lot of these facts here are negative towards asb (rip) and maybe we should add smth that isnt so harsh on the views of asb. for example, instead of showing people how many people don't want smth, we can write how many people want smth
however, i do really like the color scheme in the background!
I agree with many of the comments above. As for the data, we shouldn't be sending out information that makes ASB look bad. For example, the stats about sprit squad, coffee house talent show, and halloween parade makes people think that ASB isn't doing well enough. All the other stats are pretty interesting. If you're promoting ASB snapchat, also do the ASB instagram! The format of the paper has everything squished in the middle so spreading out the information would look better. The color looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat graphics! Here are a couple things to consider for your next infographic:
ReplyDelete1. Many have stated this already, but I do believe that it is very impactful to rid of data that pose a potential harm to ASB's image. I think that you could skew the data with a bias to only display the pros of ASB to improve ASB's image. Without the negativity, people will only gain interest in ASB events.
2. The graphs and words seemed to be a little crammed. Try spacing everything out and focus on the graphics of this infograph. Try putting the important things in the middle and the less relevant statistics on the bottom or side. For example, the fun facts are a great addition to this infograph, but it feels disarranged. Next time, try designating a permanent location to put the ASB fun facts. Finally, for future reference, try keeping all the infographs uniformed so that people know where to look for certain things, but it is still important to change up the graphics and to utilize different types of graphs to display the statistics.
